Who’s the Nursery Coordinator at VBS 2019?

What do you get when you mix rambunctious kids, tasty snacks, silly games, and gospel teaching?

Besides a whole lot of noise, you get… Vacation Bible School! This year, we’ll be hosting VBS from June 17 to 21. In the days leading up to the big week, we’ll introduce you to some of the folks who make it possible.

Meet Beth Bottenus, Nursery Coordinator!

What’s something folks might not know about where you grew up?

Much of the Sopranos was filmed in my hometown.

How long have you been worshipping with CGS?

Almost 8 years.

What has God been showing you as you’ve meditated on this year’s theme?

God has been showing me how much I resemble the elder son in the story. Even though I know that salvation can’t be earned through works, I often try to take spiritual growth into my own hands by focusing on my actions and attitudes. Meditating on the story of the prodigal son has caused me to reflect on God’s sovereignty in the process. “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26).

How are you hoping to convey the things you know and are learning about this year’s theme through the area in which you’re serving?

I hope for the children to learn that God forgives us and rejoices over us no matter what. I also hope to provide the parents/volunteers with the opportunity to deeply reflect on the many facets of the parable of the prodigal son.

What words of encouragement do you have for parents during VBS this year?

We have been praying for you and your children and are honored to share the love of Jesus with them this summer.

CGS Elders

The Session is the group of elders called to care for, serve, equip, and oversee a local Presbyterian congregation. We meet on the first Monday of each month to pray, discuss the ministries of the church, and encourage and sharpen one another.
