Who’s the Director at VBS 2019?

What do you get when you mix rambunctious kids, tasty snacks, silly games, and gospel teaching?

Besides a whole lot of noise, you get… Vacation Bible School! This year, we’ll be hosting VBS from June 17 to 21. In the days leading up to the big week, we’ll introduce you to some of the folks who make it possible.

Meet Amanda Briscoe, VBS Director!

What’s something folks might not know about where you grew up?

Parkersburg, WV is a small town with lots of hometown pride. We were a finalist in an ESPN fan pride competition when I was in high school.

How long have you been worshipping with CGS?

7 years.

What has God been showing you as you’ve meditated on this year’s theme?

Jesus is the older brother perfected. He demonstrated how the older brother should have responded to his younger brother: seeking out the lost, loving us, and rejoicing in our return home to the point of sharing in the inheritance that is rightfully all his. A love like that is relentless. Unstoppable.

How are you hoping to convey the things you know and are learning about this year’s theme through the area in which you’re serving?

I am intentionally praying for our coordinators and trying to lead and direct this amazing team of coordinators. They are all so amazing at the gifts God has given them and I am hoping to just help pull it all together and make sure we are always pointing to Christ.

What words of encouragement do you have for parents during VBS this year?

We are praying over and for your children and are so excited to get to know them and to share Jesus with them. We all do this because we love God and we love serving the kids. We have taken the job of training up little ones seriously and are making sure to make VBS a place that is theologically rich and provides kids with a multitude of ways to encounter the truth of the Gospel.

CGS Elders

The Session is the group of elders called to care for, serve, equip, and oversee a local Presbyterian congregation. We meet on the first Monday of each month to pray, discuss the ministries of the church, and encourage and sharpen one another.
