Real Jesus. Real Little People. Really Big World.
Church of the Good Shepherd cares deeply for its children — “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Our hope is that the children entrusted to us – as well as their parents – will experience CGS as a place that provides a safe, nurturing environment which is informed by Christ’s love.
We have developed a plan for our littlest lambs during this season of social distancing in order for you to utilize this extra time at home with family for His name and glory. You can find additional details below.
Our newest curriculum series is called “Tea & ABCs: Steeping Little Hearts in God’s Word.” Your littles will join Miss RiLee for a cup of tea and a new (simple) Bible verse that will start with the letter of the week & then listen to an applicable story from the Bible together.
Each week’s Sunday School lesson will be taught by Mrs. RiLee via Zoom at 9:00am. The Zoom link will be sent out via the parent email each week. If you are not on the parent email list, please email Abigail Grebe to be added.

We now have special CGS Nursery + Kids social media channels. Check them out below:
When + Where
Our nursery is available on Sunday mornings for all infants once they reach an age of 12 weeks. This care is provided during our 9:30am Sunday Morning Classes, as well as during the 10:45am Worship Service. In August of each year, those children who reach age 3 before September 1 will generally promote out of our nursery and into our age-graded Children’s Sunday School and Children’s Worship programs. You may speak to (or correspond via email with) our Nursery Coordinator for further details about these opportunities.
Currently we have four nursery rooms divided by age. The age range fluctuates depending on the number of children in the nursery. The staff at the nursery desk will help parents make sure children are in the correct nursery room.
We use a digital check-in system that prints name badges for children that include food allergies. To check in, simply visit one of our two check in stations. One is located in the concourse area, where coffee is served. The other station is located just outside the nursery, which is adjacent to the sanctuary.
The nursery staff schedule runs September through August. If you would like to serve in the nursery, please select on open spot on the schedule and sign up using the nursery staff form. All nursery and children’s ministry staff are required to complete a background check, which is just a simple email.
Parents and nursery volunteers: If you would like more information about the nursery, please access the current Nursery Handbook.
Births + Baptisms
We love to celebrate the births that occur in our church family! Help us rejoice with you: contact Liz Stoioff in the church office to have your child’s birth announced to our congregation in the Friday e-newsletter and Sunday bulletin.
If you are a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, your infant is — by virtue of your covenant with us — a non-communing member of our church and entitled to baptism. We normally set aside a portion of the Worship Service on the second Sunday of each month to welcome infants into baptism, and you can arrange this for your child by contacting Liz Stoioff.
