Saturday Evening Service: 5:30 potluck dinner (sign up for potluck and children’s portion), 6:30 – 8:00pm program/
Adults will stay for hearing from Stephen J. and children will be dismissed for a program led by CGS’s children’s director, Bethany Porter
Sunday Morning: Combined SMC in the Sanctuary at 9:30 am.
Our speaker this year is long-time CGS partner serving in London among South Asians, Stephen J. Stephen and his wife have founded a new ministry called “Counseling Global” that aims to introduce people to the hope of Christ through the avenue of counseling.
From their website: With the decline of the Christian faith in the West, missionary giving is down, but the call of God remains to reach the nations. We need to find creative funding strategies to reach the world for Christ that is less dependent on Western funding. As people leave the church, their need for pastoral care is going up and they are finding that care in a counsellor’s office. Counsellors are becoming the new global priests. Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and secular people are all willing to share their deepest longings in the counselling room. Counselling Global exists to make quality counselling accessible by training this new class of global priests to be theologically astute, culturally fluent and clinically excellent. Because a portion of all sessions can be used for church planting, it can become another source of planting churches among the unreached. Join us as we wash the feet of our neighbors and see counselling as a pathway to faith in Christ to build up the global church.
