Joint SMC-Discipling Our Families: A Conversation on Parenting for a Lifetime

October 24, 2021 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Discipling Our Families – A Conversation on Parenting For A Lifetime
Four quick things:
  1. Last week classes at UNC were closed on Tuesday because of a recent student suicide and a second attempted suicide.
  2. It has been estimated that roughly half of Duke undergraduates are on anti-anxiety medication.
  3. “Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria” describes the quickness by which many teenagers are coming out as transgender.
  4. A 2011 Barna study found that 60 percent of young adults leave the churchbetween the ages of 15 and 30.
What has created the context where these and many other challenges are being expressed by young adults? What steps can parents and grandparents take to equip family members facing these cultural issues? What does it take to survive and thrive through adolescence and young adulthood?
RUF pastors Matt Mahla (Duke) and Simon Stokes (UNC) will begin to help us address these concerns in a special combined SMC for all adults on Sunday, October 24 at 9:30am in the Fellowship Hall. Coffee and donuts will be available beginning at 9:00am.
