Learning By Failing Well – Bob Burns, S212
Hebrews 5:8 says Jesus learned through suffering. Harvard Business School professor Amy Edmondson is not aware that her emphasis on learning through failing well is a Biblical concept! We will explore her insights using Scripture, case studies and reflections from her work. While this class is designed for officers and session advisors, all are welcome.
Praying for Our Church – Brenda Pun and Kyle Osborne, S202-203
Do you long to re-energize your prayer life? Do you want to pray together for our church? If you answered yes to either of these questions, come join us! We will be using the booklet “5 Things to Pray for your Church.” This resource will help us focus on one particular concern each week paired with a scripture passage that we will use to identify five specific areas for prayer.
Neighboring – Mark Whipple and Jed Busbee , S201
How do we create genuine friendships with people so that they feel valued, heard, and understood? How can we take small steps to talk with friends about Jesus? What are the barriers we face in ourselves that prevent us from reaching out to others? Mark and Jed lead a conversation where we learn from each other and from authors who address these questions.

Superbloom – Kyle Osborne S201, S201
We’ve all heard how technology impacts our kids. But how does it impact adults? Kyle leads us in a discussion of Nicholas Carr’s book Superbloom. We will examine the assertions Carr makes about communication technology’s impact on humans and consider and critique them in the light of Scripture and the realities of our own experiences.
Abiding in Jesus in John’s Gospel – Matt Mahla and Sean Han (Duke RUF), S212
In John 15, Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” We will take a deeper look at various encounters with Jesus in the Gospel of John that help us understand what it means to abide in Christ, trusting that He will bear fruit in us as we do.
Parenting without Panic in an LGBTQ+ Affirming World – Bob Burns, S203-204
Our kids are growing up in a very different world than the one that we grew up in – especially when it comes to questions of sexuality. We will explore Rachel Gilson’s book on how to equip our kids to love God’s good design for sexuality and to love the people they meet who think differently.
Triangle Fellows Lite – John Worsham, N310 (Conference Room)
How does the gospel speak into your life between Sundays? For more than 9 years, John has been leading and coaching professionals, connecting their work to God’s work through a 9-month cohort experience called Triangle Fellows. Want to taste what others have learned? Class size is limited; you must register here by Monday, October 12. Participants are expected to invest 45 minutes each week in preparation for class

The Heart of the Holidays: Galatians 4:4-7– Todd Rust, S201
This short, powerful set of verses pulls together all the primary themes of the Advent season, including God’s eternal purpose accomplished by the virgin birth of Jesus, God’s redemption of his children, and the unique access God’s people have to the Father in prayer.
The Canticles of Christmas – Greg Wheatley and Bob Burns, S212
The canticles are the four “songs” surrounding Christ’s birth found in Luke 1 and 2 (Mary, Zacharias, Simeon, and the Angels). Each week, we will reflect on a passage and then explore the ways in which composers and hymn writers have set these texts to music.
