The Heart of Student Ministry

Discipleship, Evangelism, and Worship

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
-Matthew 28:19-20

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”
-Revelation 4:11

We want to model our lives after Jesus, and at the heart of His life was evangelism and discipleship. Christ calls men and women to be fully devoted followers of His Kingdom life. This is not a one-time thing but a life long journey and so we want to holistically pursue, teach, train and love the students of Church of the Good Shepherd in their relationship with Christ. We want them to become disciples, evangelists, and holistic worshippers of the one triune God. You will find the student ministry leadership will always be encouraging our students to be reading the Word, attending youth group, praying, and sharing the Gospel. This however cannot be cut off from the worship of God in and among the various diverse members of God’s people. We will always emphasize the need for our students to be in attendance and engaging the corporate Sunday morning worship service. We want our student to not be consumers of worship but to instead bring their own worship in offering to God on Sunday mornings.

“Discipleship can be made concrete by actively learning how to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, walk the second mile with an oppressor—in general, living out the gracious inward transformations of faith, hope, and love.”
– Dallas Willard

“Growth in true holiness is always growth together; it takes place through the nurture, the work, and worship of the church.”
- Ed Clowney
