Sunday FAQ

Where is CGS Located?

We are located just off Highway 40 and 15-501, hugging the line between Durham and Chapel Hill. Our address is 3741 Garrett Rd, Durham.

Where do I park?

We have reserved parking for our guests on both sides of the church building. If you enter at the second parking lot entrance coming from 15-501, guest parking and drop-off can be found on the left, beside the sanctuary.

What should I wear to Sunday services?

Dress in whatever is most comfortable to you. While some will be in coat-and-tie or dresses, others will be dressed in jeans or something more casual. It is what's in the heart, not the outward appearance, that matters most!

Will I fit in at CGS?

We are a multi-generational church desiring to create a hospitable place of belonging for every type of person. Whatever your religious beliefs, political leanings, preferred attire, economic bracket, profession, ethnicity, culture, marital status, or music taste (fill in the blank with whatever we missed here), we want our church to be a place where you can process and grow in your thoughts about God and the role he has for you in his world, and where you can be in life together with other people.

How often does CGS celebrate the Lord's Supper?

Currently, we celebrate the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of each month.

Where do I take my children?

There is one main check-in station for newborns through two-year-olds is located in the nursery, next to the breezeway and just before the sanctuary. For three-year-olds through fifth-grade, please stop by the Children's Welcome Center in the "Concourse"  and someone will be glad to walk you where you need to go.

Do I need to bring anything with me for my children?

  • Clearly labeled sippy cup
  • Individual snack if your child has specific allergies
  • Diapers
  • Change of clothes
  • Lovie, pacifier or blanket for comfort

Ours is a well-child nursery, so please be sure your children are free of the following symptoms for 24 hours:

  • Fever
  • Runny nose
  • Chronic cough
  • Throat infections
  • Diarrhea
  • Any contagious disease

Where do Middle and Senior High students go?

CGS Youth classes meet Sundays at 9:30am. Middle School students meet in Room L102 located on the lower level beneath the Sanctuary, and Senior High students meet in the Room L103 next door. We encourage our youth to worship together, or with their families during the 10:45am service. For more information about CGS's student ministries, click here.
