Our mission at The Church of the Good Shepherd is to produce maturing followers of Jesus Christ. We are not only concerned about seeing people come to Christ, grow in Christ, live for Christ, and talk about Christ in our own area, but also around the globe.
We have over 21 partners that are accomplishing this same mission all over the world! These partners are both organizations and individuals. Some are right here in the Research Triangle and others are on the other side of the world. It is our desire to encourage and support these global partners financially, by prayer, encouragement, and other very tangible ways. Take time to review who our partners are, where they are and what they are doing to produce maturing follower of Jesus Christ. They are an essential extension of the CGS mission!
Want to be involved in what CGS is doing around the world?
- Take time to look at who our partners are via our online directory.
- Pray specifically for them.
Connect with our global partners and encourage them in their work. There are many ways you can do this. Your family or shepherding group could “adopt” one of our global workers and send them regular notes or care packages. Another idea is that your bible study group, prayer group, youth class, etc could get together and write notes of encouragement to several of the global workers and mail them out. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, contact Chris Garrett.
CGS sends out “Short Term Teams” — a group of people from our congregation–each year to come alongside our partners and work directly with them right where they are. These teams are great ways for us to see and experience first-hand this very critical extension of our ministry. These teams consist of small groups of adults and young people (sometimes entire families) participating in relationship building, medical clinics, teaching, construction and repair projects, and other ministries. Keep your ears open for GO Team opportunities.
CGS holds many special offerings throughout the year to assist our partners with special needs, projects, and opportunities. Global Outreach is supported at CGS through ten percent of our tithes to the annual General Fund giving. In addition, an annual O.W.E. is collected through either gifts or commitments. Yellow OWE cards are available in the literature racks throughout the church. Please prayerfully consider how you can be a partner in global missions by filling out a card if you have not done so already. Drop cards in the offering plate or mail/bring them to the office. Mission donations can also be made online HERE.
